Butler/House Manager
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Butler / House Manager to oversee and elevate the standard of service across three private residences belonging to a high-profile Italian financier. The Principal and his family divide their time between Milan, Ibiza, and London.
This pivotal role requires a hands-on, proactive professional with extensive experience working directly for private families. The successful candidate will ensure seamless household operations and a consistently high level of service, presentation, and discretion across all properties.
Milan is the primary base. The successful candidate should be established there or able to arrange their own accommodation. A private apartment is provided in Ibiza during family residence periods, and hotel accommodation will be arranged for London visits as required.
Start date: October / November.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Butler / House Manager include:
- Overseeing and managing household staff across multiple residences, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
- Recruiting, training, and supervising staff where needed, including seasonal teams in Ibiza
- Providing hands-on service to the Principal and family, maintaining the highest standards of presentation and etiquette
- Managing front-of-house operations and coordinating with suppliers, contractors, and service providers
- Handling wardrobe care, packing/unpacking, provisioning, and household inventories
- Preparing properties in advance of family arrivals and overseeing seasonal openings and closings
- Upholding discretion, professionalism, and a refined understanding of private household protocol
Candidates must be/have:
- Proven experience in a similar Butler/House Manager positions
- Able to operate independently, with minimal supervision or training required
- Fluent Italian essential; English required, Spanish advantageous
- Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
- Confident managing luxury properties and high-value items
- Discreet, adaptable, and service-oriented, with the flexibility to travel extensively across Europe
- Right to work within the EU
Accommodation
Milan: Primary base. Candidates should be established in Milan or able to arrange their own accommodation.
Ibiza: Private apartment provided during family residence periods.
London: Hotel accommodation arranged as required.
Hours
Full-time and flexible to the Principal’s requirements.
Location
Based primarily in Milan and Ibiza, with travel to London.
Salary
Up to €80,000, depending on experience.
