Housekeeper/Cleaner
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and detail-oriented Housekeeper/Cleaner to join the housekeeping team on a prestigious private estate near Andover, on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border.
Reporting to the House Manager, the House Assistant will play a key role in maintaining the main residence, guest cottages, studios, and staff accommodation to the highest possible standards.
This is a hands-on position that calls for discretion, professionalism, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service in a private and confidential setting. Job duties
Responsibilities of the Housekeeper/Cleaner near Andover, include:
Housekeeping Duties
- Clean all internal areas of the main house, guest cottages, studios, and staff accommodation to an exceptionally high standard
- Carry out dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitising surfaces, and maintaining fixtures and appliances
- Clean bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and communal areas thoroughly and consistently
Attention to Detail
- Regularly check all areas (including those used less frequently) to ensure cleanliness and presentation remain faultless
- Pay particular attention to high-traffic zones, keeping them pristine at all times
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other members of the housekeeping team to ensure smooth daily operations
- Liaise regularly with the House Manager to report any maintenance issues or stock replenishment needs
Discretion, Professionalism and Confidentiality
- Operate with the highest level of discretion and respect for the privacy of the Principal, guests, and wider household team
Inventory & Safety
- Assist with stock control of cleaning products and equipment, flagging any supply needs or faults
- Follow all health and safety protocols and contribute to a safe, efficient working environment
Adhere to Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all your activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations and best practices
- Read and understand any risk assessments and implement safety protocols as directed by the House Manager
Candidates must be/have:
- Previous experience in a similar role, either within private households or luxury hospitality
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise
- A team player with a flexible, proactive approach and willingness to support other departments when required
- Trustworthy, discreet, and respectful of the confidential nature of the role
- Physically fit and happy to be on your feet for long periods, including lifting and bending as part of daily tasks
Location
A private estate near Andover, on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border, UK.
Applicants should be within reasonable commuting distance or willing to relocate.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. 40 hours per week.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends when required.
Salary
£30,000 – £35,000.
25 days of holiday, 5% pension contribution, subsidised medical insurance and support of an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
