Domestic Couple
Overview
A stunning private estate spanning over 1,000 acres on the picturesque Dorset/Wiltshire border is seeking a skilled and dedicated Domestic Couple (Housekeeper and Maintenance Worker) to join a well-established household team.
The Domestic Couple will join a dynamic group that includes Housekeepers, Gardeners, Estate Workers and Gamekeepers, all working together to ensure the smooth running of this magnificent property.
The successful couple will be provided with a two-bedroom cottage on the estate.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Housekeeper include:
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the house interiors, including daily cleaning, laundry, and ironing
- Help maintain stock levels throughout the house and ensure that all areas of the estate are kept in pristine condition
- Care for fine fabrics, antiques, and other delicate items with attention to detail
- Coordinate with other household staff to ensure smooth operation of the estate
Responsibilities of the Maintenance Worker include:
- Perform general maintenance tasks across the estate, including repairs, joinery, painting, and basic plumbing and electrical work
- Understanding and problem solving the core estate infrastructure (e.g., heating, water and electrical systems, swimming pool etc)
- On occasion assist with the upkeep of the estate grounds to include fencing, groundworks, and general outdoor care
- Occasional pet and livestock care (rabbits, chickens and cattle)
- Help with the maintenance and care of estate vehicles and machinery
- Willing to learn and adapt to a broad array of tasks and requests
- Assist with any other tasks as required by the estate owners
Candidates must be/have:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Domestic Couple on a Private Household/Estate
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently when needed
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively with a wider team, maintaining open communication and collaboration
- A proactive approach to tasks with a can-do attitude
- Ideally, both candidates have valid driving licences
- Flexibility to accommodate the needs of the estate
Accommodation
A two-bedroom cottage provided on the estate.
A vehicle will be provided for work-related duties.
Hours
Maintenance: Monday to Friday. On call on alternating weekends with TOIL available – duty weekends aligned with housekeeping schedule.
Housekeeper: 5 days per week.
Location
Near Shaftesbury, on the Dorset/Wiltshire border.
Salary
£70,000 combined.
