Overview
A lovely, professional family in Seattle is seeking an experienced Live-in Housekeeper/Cook/Nanny to join their household. The Principals are working parents with two daughters aged three and 13.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who thrives in a more reserved household environment and can bring warmth, presence, and flexibility to their role.
The family have an au pair joining them in January, who will be responsible for most of the childcare, and there are fortnightly deep cleaners in place, creating a supportive team atmosphere. They are looking for someone to step into this position as soon as possible, following the retirement of one staff member and the departure of another after four years of service.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Live-in Housekeeper/Cook/Nanny in Seattle, Washington, USA include:
Housekeeping
- Light housekeeping throughout the home (deep cleaners visit fortnightly)
- Family laundry and wardrobe management
- Maintaining tidy, organised living spaces
- Running household errands during the day
Cooking
- Preparing daily meals for the family
- Planning nutritious, family-friendly menus
- Kitchen management and grocery shopping
Travel
- Accompanying the family on trips to Whistler for skiing holidays and Hawaii
Childcare
- Morning routine: helping both children get ready for school (07:00 – 08:00)
- School runs and transportation as needed
- After-school care and activities (16:00 – 20:00)
- Supporting the 13-year-old daughter who has autism with her daily needs
- Managing the high-energy 3-year-old throughout the day
- Evening routine including dinner, bath time, and bedtime
The role offers flexibility to manage your own time during the day between morning and afternoon/evening responsibilities.
Candidates must be/have:
- Strong experience in a previous similar position within a private household
- Significant experience working with children, including those with additional needs
- Comfortable and confident supporting a child with autism
- High energy and stamina to keep up with an active 3-year-old
- Strong cooking skills with the ability to prepare family meals
- Valid driver’s license (car will be provided)
- Warm, present, and engaging personality
- Flexible approach and uses initiative
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- English speaking
- Legal right to work in the USA
Desirable
- Previous experience in similar combined housekeeper/nanny roles
- Understanding of autism support strategies
- Calm, patient demeanour
- Discretion and professionalism

Full-time, permanent position.
Typical schedule
- Busy periods: 07:00 – 08:00 (morning routine) and 16:00 – 20:00 (after school through bedtime)
- Flexible daytime hours for housekeeping, errands, and meal preparation
- Some travel required with the family
Salary & Benefits
$5,000+ net per month
