Maternity Nurse/Nanny
Overview
Our new client, first time parents, are seeking a Maternity Nurse/Nanny, to provide expert care and support for their delightful 12-week-old baby boy at the family home in Central Birmingham.
When the current Maternity Nurse’s contract ends at 12 weeks, the family is looking to bring on a new Maternity Nurse/Nanny to guide them through the next stages of development and weaning.
This full-time, live-out role requires an experienced, down-to-earth professional to offer shared care and support, whilst also guiding the parents on this new journey.
Start date: 1st April 2025.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Maternity Nurse/Nanny for 12-week-old:
- Provide daily care, including feeding, nappy changes, and maintaining hygiene
- Assist with breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, ensuring proper techniques
- Assist with introducing solid foods and guide the family through the weaning process, ensuring a smooth transition and balanced nutrition for the baby
- Follow safe sleep practices and monitor baby’s sleep patterns
- Help establish and maintain a sleep routine for the baby
- Support baby’s physical, emotional, and developmental milestones
- Track growth and report any concerns to parents
- Monitor baby’s health and administer prescribed medications if needed
- Keep feeding equipment and nursery clean and sterilised
- Offer guidance and reassurance on baby care (e.g., feeding schedules, sleep tips)
- Provide emotional support to the new parents
- Stimulate baby’s development with age-appropriate activities (e.g., reading, gentle play)
- Maintain baby’s space, such as cleaning the nursery
- Take baby on short walks or outings
- Occasional travel to their other home in London
Candidates must be/have:
- Strong experience in a similar role, as a Maternity Nurse/Nanny
- A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach
- Good experience of the weaning process
- Live within commutable distance of Central Birmingham
- A clean driving licence with own car – would be desirable
- Willing to have occasional overnight stays with the family
- Experience of travelling with a family
- Be trained in infant first aid and CPR
Accommodation
This is a live-out position, but the Maternity Nurse/Nanny will occasionally be required to stay at the family home during their shift. A private bedroom with ensuite will be provided.
Hours
Full-time, 40 hours to be spread across Monday – Sunday.
Shift pattern to be discussed at interview stages.
Location
Central Birmingham.
Salary
£60,000.
