Private Chef

Overview

Our client, a family of three, require a Seasonal Private Chef to work on rotation at a beautiful private estate in Ramatuelle, St. Tropez. The Chef will work on rotation with another Chef, on either a one week or two week on/off basis.

The family enjoy a healthy but flavoursome lunches and suppers, using local, organic produce. Asian food is a preference, with the family preferring smaller lighter dishes over big plated meals.

The Chef will work alongside a Butler, who will manage the service and laying of the table. A team of Housekeepers will be called on during busier periods and when guests are in residence.

Please note, this is a seasonal position, running from June – October.

Job duties:

Responsibilities of the Private Chef in St. Tropez include:

  • Designing menus tailored to the dietary preferences, restrictions, and requirements of the employer and their guests
  • Cooking meals from scratch using fresh and high-quality ingredients, including preparing breakfast, lunch (buffet style), dinner (plated service), and snacks, plus regular dinner parties and events
  • Demonstrating proficiency in various cooking techniques, cuisines, and styles of cooking to create delicious and visually appealing dishes
  • Procuring ingredients from local markets, speciality stores, and online suppliers
  • Adhering to strict food safety standards and sanitation practices
  • Accommodating dietary restrictions, allergies, and special dietary needs of the employer and their guests
  • Plating dishes in an aesthetically pleasing manner, considering colour, texture, and arrangement to enhance the dining experience
  • Overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and organisation
  • Being adaptable and flexible to accommodate last-minute changes, guest preferences, and unexpected events
  • Maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of the employer and their guests

Please note, there are no set meal times, so the chef must be happy to adapt to the movements of the Principals and the household.

Candidates must be/have:

  • 5+ years in a similar role as a Private Chef
  • EU Passport / right to work in France
  • Be fluent French and English speaking
  • A strong problem-solving ability and a good communicator
  • A personable, approachable manner

Accommodation

Accommodation provided on site, and the successful candidate must be prepared to travel with the Principal and/or family when required.

Hours

Two Chefs will be required to work on rotation – either one week on/off or two weeks on/off.

Salary

€85,000 per year
