Head Housekeeper
Overview
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Head Housekeeper to work in a beautiful 7,000 sq. ft property in Holland Park, West London. The role is offered on a live-in or live-out basis.
This is a key household role responsible for maintaining an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness, organisation and day-to-day household operations. The successful candidate will be highly professional and take genuine pride in their work and is comfortable operating in a discerning private environment.
The family consists of a Principal, and two adult children (who are largely away at university).
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Live-in or Live-out Head Housekeeper in Holland Park, include:
- Cleaning and tidying the interior of the entire home to a superior standard of cleanliness and hygiene
- Assisting with food preparation; cleaning, tidying and organising the kitchen, butler’s pantry and wine room, including appliances and equipment after meals
- Compiling weekly grocery shopping lists; keeping the refrigerator, pantry and cupboards clean and discarding out-of-date items
- Making beds and changing bed linens and bath towels
- Collecting, washing, ironing and returning laundry to the appropriate place
- Managing wardrobes, mending clothes and arranging dry-cleaning
- Cleaning interior windows
- Answering the door and telephone; managing deliveries and running errands
- Caring for the family dogs, including feeding, walking and general day-to-day pet welfare
- Assisting with preparation for dinner parties and special events
- Handling petty cash
- Liaising with tradesmen, suppliers and contractors
- Managing security alarms; keeping patios, pathways and steps clean and tidy
- Maintaining stock of cleaning and household supplies
- Maintaining, cleaning and arranging servicing of all household appliances
- Notifying the Principal immediately of any items requiring repair
- Carrying out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Principal
Candidates must be/have:
- Previous experience in a similar position within a private household, UHNW or luxury hospitality setting
- Trustworthy, responsible and discreet at all times
- Punctual, reliable and highly organised
- A genuine love of dogs and hands-on experience of pet care
- Energetic and physically able to carry out the demands of the role
- Attentive to detail and capable of following direction and instruction precisely
- Proactive, able to take initiative and anticipate household needs without being asked
- Enthusiastic, consistent and safety-conscious
- Comfortable taking responsibility and accountability
- Excellent references from previous employers
Accommodation
A staff flat including private bedroom, ensuite bathroom and kitchenette will be provided (if the Head Housekeeper wishes to be employed on a live-in basis).
Hours
Full-time. Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:30.

Holland Park, London.
Salary
£55,000, depending on experience.
Depending on live-in or out basis.
