Live-out Housekeeper
Overview
We are seeking an experienced, reliable and highly organised Live-out Housekeeper to support a private family at their residence in Mayfair, London.
The principal property is a beautiful four-bedroom home, occupied by the family for approximately 3-4 months of the year. During these periods, the household becomes busier, with four children in residence (no childcare duties are required).
The successful candidate will work alongside two other housekeepers on a shift rota, maintaining exceptionally high standards across the property. This role suits someone proactive, discreet and flexible, who takes pride in their work and can confidently anticipate the needs of a private household.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Live-out Housekeeper in Mayfair, London, include:
- Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation and general housekeeping.
- Daily cleaning, tidying and upkeep of the main residence and additional properties, where required.
- Ironing, laundry and wardrobe care.
- Basic meal preparation and simple home cooking.
- Unpacking and organising grocery deliveries.
- Liaising with contractors and overseeing household maintenance visits when required.
- Ensuring the home remains immaculate, organised and well presented.
- Adapting duties and workload according to whether the family is in residence or away.
- Working collaboratively with the other housekeepers to ensure the smooth running of the household.
- No childcare duties are required.
Candidates must be / have:
- Proven experience as a private housekeeper in a high-standard household.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining immaculate homes.
- Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently without constant direction.
- Flexible and comfortable working a six-day rota, including Saturdays and Sundays, during the family’s residency periods.
- Adaptable to shorter working hours and a generally Monday-to-Friday schedule when the family is away.
- Comfortable working in a busy household with children, without childcare responsibilities.
- Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of privacy.
- Confident communicating with contractors and other household staff.
- A quiet, unobtrusive manner and the initiative to anticipate what needs doing.
Hours
When the family is in residence (approximately 3–4 months per year): Six days per week, including weekends, working on a rota alongside two other housekeepers.
When the family is not in residence: Generally Monday to Friday, with shorter working hours.
Shift patterns include:
- 08:00–15:00
- 11:00–19:00
- 13:00–20:30
Flexibility is essential, particularly during residency periods.

£45,000 – £50,000, depending on experience.
