Retainer Nanny (SEN experienced)
Overview
A private family in Knightsbridge are seeking an experienced, professional and engaging Retainer Nanny from April / May 2026, to care for three children (born February 2015, March 2017 and October 2020). Experience of SEN is an important factor, specifically ASC and/or ADHD.
The successful candidate will cover sickness and holiday leave for the Rota Nannies, maintaining seamless continuity of care in a fully staffed household.
The family have three dogs. Accommodation is provided.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Retainer Nanny in Knightsbridge, London, include:
- Provide full-time care for three children aged 4–11 years, covering sickness and holiday leave for the Rota Nannies
- Ensure consistency, stability and routine for the children at all times
- Plan and prepare engaging activities for evenings, weekends and school holidays
- Manage school runs, appointments and extracurricular activities as required
- Carry out children’s laundry, tidying of playrooms and children’s areas of the home
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children
- Work collaboratively and professionally as part of the wider nanny team and household staff
- Maintain clear communication with the parents and household manager
- Handle administrative tasks during school hours, including scheduling and holiday planning
- Travel with the family during school holidays to Europe and internationally
Candidates must be/have:
- Significant experience working with children of similar ages (4–11 years)
- Experience of Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or ADHD – highly desirable
- Previous experience in a rota or retainer nanny position – advantageous
- Highly flexible and adaptable, with the ability to step in at short notice
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team approach
- Confident working on their own initiative with a high degree of autonomy
- A warm, mature and professional approach to childcare
- Happy to travel internationally with the family during school holidays
- Comfortable living and working in a fully staffed household
- Happy to be around dogs
- A full DBS check and up-to-date references will be required
Accommodation
A private bedroom and bathroom within the family home or nanny apartment.
Hours / Days
162.5 days max per year.
As this is a Retainer position, the nanny will be on-call to cover the Rota Nannies during periods of sickness and annual leave. Specific hours will vary according to the needs of the family and the schedule of the nanny team. Full flexibility is essential.
During school hours when not directly caring for the children, the Retainer Nanny will be expected to carry out administrative duties and holiday planning.

Travel both within Europe and internationally is required during school holiday periods.
Salary
£70,000.
Rising to £75,000 upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
