Weekend Nanny
Overview
A busy, sporty family based in Kensington is seeking an experienced, professional and energetic Weekend Nanny. The role is primarily Friday to Sunday on a live-out basis, with very occasional weekends when the nanny may be asked to live in. Start date: ASAP.
The family has five children aged 11, 10, 7, 5 and 1. During the week, a Rota Nanny has primary responsibility for the two youngest, and a Nanny-Governess (Monday – Thursday) supports the three older children.
At weekends, the Weekend Nanny steps in alongside the Rota Nanny, who has primary responsibility for the youngest child (aged 1). The Weekend Nanny is primarily responsible for the three children aged 5, 7 and 10, ensuring their routines, activities and weekend commitments run smoothly. The 11-year-old requires very minimal support (e.g. will probably just come to have meals together with the other children).
In addition to weekends, the role includes six full weeks of cover per year (up to 10), covering holidays, family travel and the nanny team’s annual leave. Travel may include trips throughout Europe and family ski holidays.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Weekend Nanny in Kensington, London:
Children aged 5, 7 and 10
- Take primary responsibility for the three children aged 5, 7 and 10 at weekends, ensuring their routines, activities and weekend commitments run smoothly
- Support the children’s weekend routines, activities and sports
- Very minimal support for the 11-year-old (e.g. joining the other children for meals)
Youngest child (1)
- Work alongside the Rota Nanny, who retains primary responsibility for the 1-year-old
- Share responsibilities and support each other as needed
Teamwork & Cover
- Work collaboratively with the Rota Nanny, parents and wider household staff, sharing responsibilities so weekends run smoothly
- Communicate closely with the team on routines, plans and handovers
- Provide full-week cover during family travel and the nanny team’s annual leave
- Travel with the family as required, including within Europe and on ski holidays
Candidates must be/have:
- Significant experience as a professional nanny, ideally with multiple children of different ages
- Energetic, sporty and hands-on, suited to a lively, active household
- Flexible and adaptable (a must), with a genuine enjoyment of travel
- A natural team player who communicates well with parents and fellow staff
- Comfortable with occasional live-in weekends and international travel
- A driver (preferred)
Hours
Friday 2pm – 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am – 8pm, live-out.
Occasional live-in cover over weekends, when required.
Plus 6 full weeks per year (up to 10) of additional cover, including travel.
Location
Kensington, London, with occasional international travel.
Salary
£55,000 gross per annum (including 6 weeks of cover) to £61,000 gross per annum (including 10 weeks of cover).
